What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a mutually beneficial agreement between farmers and their community. Members purchase a share of the farm’s produce in advance so farmers have operating capital. This ensures a customer base and stable income for the farmers throughout the growing season. In return, the farm provides CSA members with a weekly share of the best local produce available.

What’s in a Share?

Each week you will receive a collection of vegetables that are in season.  A full share will include 6 to 8 items (about $25 worth of produce) and is appropriate for 2 to 4 people.  A small share will include 4 to 5 items (about $15 worth of produce) and is appropriate for 1 to 2 people.  This with vary depending on how many vegetables your household eats each week.

The quantity and variety each week will change with the season.  Some of the things you can expect in your share are our seasonal salad mix, head lettuce, kale, swiss chard, collard greens, beefsteak and heirloom tomatoes, hot and bell peppers, cucumbers, summer squash, zucchini, carrots, radishes, salad turnips, beets, fennel, kohlrabi, scallions, onions, garlic scapes,  fresh herbs including basil, cilantro, sage, mint, dill, & tulsi, and sprouts, microgreens, and shoots.

Market Style Pick Up

Our CSA is a little different than the traditional pre-boxed type that most farms offer.  Our “market style” pick up allows for you to choose the vegetables you receive each week.  At your first pick up, we’ll provide you with a reusable WTF bag to fill with your selections. The pick up is also during our regular farm stand hours, so you can purchase extra vegetables, mushrooms, microgreens, and farm fresh artisan pizzas!

If you have a small share, an example of your choices would be one leafy green (chard, kale, collards), one root veg (beets, carrots, fennel, turnip), head lettuce or salad mix, one herb (basil, sage, rosemary),  and one large cucumber or tomato. Remember this is just an example and your choices will change from week to week depending on availability.

It’s also important to note that not everything that we have for sale the farm stand will be an option to choose for your CSA share.  We do our best to accommodate our CSA members with a variety of vegetables throughout the season and offer other specialty crops we do not produce in large quantity, for purchase.
